A men’s wallet in Bangladesh can cost ৳300 or more than ৳20,000. Most people end up somewhere in between, and the hard part is knowing whether the ৳900 wallet in front of you is a fair deal or a PU wallet with a leather label.

This guide uses prices listed by Bangladeshi shops to show what a real leather wallet costs, why prices differ so much, and how to check what you are paying for.

Quick answer

A genuine leather men’s wallet in Bangladesh usually costs between ৳700 and ৳2,500. Card holders start from about ৳300, bifold wallets sit around ৳700 to ৳2,300, and long wallets around ৳1,000 to ৳3,500. A “leather” wallet priced under ৳500 is very likely PU or rexine.

Wallet prices by style

The prices below come from listings on Bangladeshi shops in November 2026. Most are sale prices, and shops change them often, so use them as a guide.

How the type of leather changes the price

Two wallets can look almost the same in a photo and still be made from very different materials. The leather grade is the biggest reason one costs twice as much as the other.

Full grain leather uses the strongest outer layer of the hide with its natural grain left on. It costs the most, lasts the longest and darkens nicely with use.

Top grain leather has the surface lightly sanded and finished for an even look. It is a little cheaper and still a solid choice for a daily wallet.

“Genuine leather” is real leather, but in the trade the term often means a lower grade taken from the inner layers of the hide and coated on top. It costs less and wears faster.

Bonded leather is made from scraps glued together. It is cheap and tends to peel at the edges.

PU and rexine are synthetic. They can look convincing when new, but they crack and peel, especially in Bangladesh’s heat and humidity. One Bangladeshi shop’s buying guide puts PU wallets at around ৳300 to ৳800.

Our guide to types of leather explains each grade in more detail.

Why two similar wallets can cost very different amounts

Leather grade is only part of the story. These details also push the price up or down:

  • Stitching. Tight, even stitching with strong thread holds the card slots together for years. Glued edges with little or no stitching are cheaper and come apart sooner.
  • Edge finishing. Edges that are painted or burnished look neat and resist fraying. Raw or rough edges are a sign of a lower-cost wallet.
  • Number of parts. A wallet with many card slots, a coin pocket, a zip or an ID window needs more cutting and stitching than a simple card holder.
  • Lining. A leather or good fabric lining costs more than thin synthetic lining, which often tears first.
  • Brand and shop costs. Large brands with showrooms and advertising usually charge more than small online leather makers for a similar wallet.
  • Discounts. Many Bangladeshi shops show a crossed-out higher price and a sale price. The sale price is often the real everyday price.

Cheap wallet warning signs

A very low price is the first warning. Real leather, cutting and stitching all cost money, so a “100% genuine leather” wallet for ৳250 rarely is.

Real leather ages. PU cracks and peels, often within a year.

Read the material line on the listing before you order. Words like “PU”, “synthetic”, “vegan leather”, “leatherette” or “leather-look” mean it is not real leather. If the listing only says “leather” with no grade, ask the seller directly.

Other signs to watch for:

  • A perfectly even grain pattern repeated across the whole wallet, which usually means it was printed.
  • A strong plastic or chemical smell.
  • Edges that show a fabric layer or a shiny plastic coating when you look closely.
  • Surface cracking or peeling at the folds, even on a new wallet.

What to check at delivery

Many Bangladeshi shops let you open the parcel and check the item before paying the delivery person. If yours does, take a minute to:

Check that the stitching is even and tight along every card slot.
  1. Check the edges. Real leather shows a slightly fuzzy, fibrous edge.
  2. Bend it gently. Real leather creases softly. PU often wrinkles sharply or shows white stress lines.
  3. Count the slots. Make sure the number of card slots and pockets matches the listing.
  4. Look at the stitching. Lines should be straight with no loose ends.
  5. Smell it. Leather has a warm, natural smell.

If anything doesn’t match what was listed, return it at the door.

How long a good wallet should last

A well-made leather wallet carried every day should last several years, and full grain leather often lasts much longer. Humidity is the main risk in Bangladesh. Keep the wallet out of damp pockets and bags during the monsoon, let it dry naturally if it gets wet, and clean it now and then. FAQs

How much does a genuine leather wallet cost in Bangladesh?

Most genuine leather men’s wallets cost between ৳700 and ৳2,500. Card holders start from about ৳300, and long wallets usually cost ৳1,000 to ৳3,500.

Is a ৳300 leather wallet real leather?

It is unlikely. At that price most wallets are PU, rexine or bonded leather. Check the material line on the listing and ask the seller if it isn’t clear.

Why is a long wallet more expensive than a bifold?

A long wallet uses more leather and usually has more slots, pockets and stitching. That extra material and work adds to the price.

Which wallet type gives the best value?

For most people, a simple top grain or full grain bifold gives the best balance of price and lifespan. If you only carry a few cards, a card holder costs less and fits easily in a front pocket.

Do branded wallets last longer?

Not always. The leather grade and the stitching matter more than the brand name. A well-made wallet from a smaller maker can last as long as a branded one.

Can I return a wallet if it isn’t real leather?

It depends on the shop. Many Bangladeshi sellers allow you to check the parcel at delivery and return it on the spot if it doesn’t match the listing. Ask about the shop’s exchange and return policy before you order, and keep the packaging until you are sure you are happy with the wallet.

Final thoughts

A fair price for a real leather wallet in Bangladesh is usually ৳700 to ৳2,500, depending on the style. Below that, check the material carefully. Above that, make sure you are paying for better leather and stitching, not only a name.
